The Pantheon in Rome is the source of our name and company logo. It is the largest dome remaining from antiquity, built under the rule of Emperor Hadrian sometime around 125 AD. The clear span of the dome is 43 m, this height not being equalled until 1436 with the completion of the Florence Cathedral.
It is an unassuming building seen from the Piazza della Rotonda yet it is amazing inside, with its unique "Oculi” or skylight at the center of the dome to let in daylight. It has survived 20 centuries of war, political turmoil and earthquakes and remains a must-see on a visitor's itinerary.
There is also a Pantheon in Paris, conceived by King Louis XV and built by the Marquis de Marigny on the King's behalf. The structure took 34 years to build and was completed in 1791.
